In this post, we’ll be making sure song sections are marked out properly in Conductor. It’s pretty straightforward but there are 2 methods, both of which we’ll be covering.
Using Locators
The first method is to use locators to mark out your song sections. Once you’ve put your locators in the right place, all you need to do is name it after the corresponding song section and add an asterisk before it. For example, for your intro, you would rename your locator, “*Intro”. Repeat this until you’ve labelled all of the sections in all of your songs.

Using Clips
The next method is to use MIDI clips. If you’re unfamiliar with setting up MIDI clips to mark out song sections, the logic is simple. Create a MIDI clip that is the duration of each of your song sections and name them accordingly. (Check out the ‘Chopping Up Our Stems’ section in this post). Once all of your MIDI clips are in place, all you need to do is put the Conductor plugin on the same MIDI channel. Done.

Closing Thoughts
We hope this series in Conductor has been helpful and that this post was straightforward. We’re finally ready to add in the Conductor plugin into our Ableton set. We’ll be doing this in the following post so be sure to check back.
